The proposed Workforce Compact will provide subsidised wage increases of three and a half per cent over the next four years for eligible providers. In the current form an eligible provider would be required to negotiate an enterprise agreement to be able to access the subsidies.

An enterprise agreement also allows them to:

  • accurately quote as they knew their labour costs in advance for up to the next four years,
  • have a well-paid but flexible workforce,
  • remove or reduce the time-consuming allowance and penalty rate calculations from their payroll process,
  • promote to their clients that their employees are paid all their lawful entitlements and potentially advertise they are “Workforce Compact Compliant”.
